Eiserman in, who's out?

As I stated in my notes for today earlier, the Steel have officially acquired Bill Eiserman (formerly referred to as Will). A '92 defenseman, Eiserman would push the Steel's official roster to 24, not counting Christian Neumann on the 25-day IR. Below are the possible roster moves:

  • Brian Leblanc released: When the team's at full health, and with the inclusion of Eiserman, Leblanc becomes the team's eighth defenseman. The ability to play some wing could save him, but as the last guy on the depth chart, he seems like the likely guy to go.
  • Tobias Ruelykke placed on the IR: With the Steel utilizing the 25-day IR, Ruelykke would only be off the roster until early January. This would at least give the Steel some time to make a decision on D.
  • Don't protect Ruelykke until he's healthy: As the Steel benefited from by being able to get Eiserman, the USHL is pretty well filled up on '92 players, specifically D-men. If memory serves, other teams have done this to avoid having to use the 45-day IR
  • Place an unexpected player on the IR: For all we know, someone else is hurt, or will get hurt. Danny Fetzer hasn't played since December 1st.
  • Trade or release a rostered player: Pretty self-explanatory. Don't know if anyone's fallen out of favor with McConnell, or if there's someone another team would be willing to overpay on.
Things should start to clear up once the Steel announce the move and the corresponding roster move(s) are made.
